That's all for now! But wait for our next installment, in which we find out how much cheese six hundred thousand dollars will buy, and meet a little girl who just happens to love cows.

  2. Thanks Ted! Mudflats is the epicenter of Alaskan elitism, and I'm proud to be a part of it.

  3. Ha! The cow is wearing Sarah's high heels, as well as her glasses and lipstick. That's quite, droll, Mrs. P. $8 a gallon does seem a bit high. I wonder whether ice cream is cheaper in Alaska. I used to pay $5. for two gallons (of milk) in San Diego. But now in the great city of Cheyenne, Wyoming, I pay $6 for two gallons. And they say there's no inflation!

  4. Sorry I haven't gotten to the next parts of Mat Maid yet, because they're just as cheesy-good. Imagine, that $8/gallon was a couple of years ago. Here in NYC, there's an "artisan" farm called Ronnybrook, that markets its creamy organic milk in real glass bottles at NY Greenmarkets and upscale gourmet shops for about that price, but I can't imagine hardscrabble Wasillans paying that much.

Cheyenne is close to cow country, isn't it? I think of Wyoming, I think of cattle, the Devil's Tower, and of course its occupant, Dick Cheney.
